Grantley Haynes has made a significant mark on the UK music industry through his ventures, including GTS Records and Boyz Beatz, both of which showcase his passion for developing new talent and producing unique sounds. In addition to his record label successes, Grantley has also ventured into musical theatre with the ambitious production of “Mirrors and Makeup,” demonstrating his commitment to nurturing young artists and creating innovative musical experiences.
Dedicated to discovering and nurturing emerging talent within the UK music scene, GT’s Records focuses on a diverse mix of reggae and contemporary sounds. The label offers a platform for artists to reach their full potential, with a strong emphasis on creativity and quality. GT’s continues to make waves in the industry, consistently pushing boundaries and supporting new talent.
It was founded by Grantley Haynes in September 1983, with the production of Pato Banton’s Never Give In album. The album was quickly licensed to Primitive Man Records in the USA and later taken over by Miles Copeland and Jay Boberg’s IRS Records, a subsidiary of MCA Records. Following this success, GT’s produced Peter Spence’s Don’t Leave Me Lonely and the hit album I’ll Be There, as well as Tippa Irie’s Ah Me Dis and the collaborative album Saphpia and Steel by Tippa Irie and Peter Spence. These releases were also licensed to IRS Records USA and Island Records UK.
In June 2014, GT’s Records was rebranded to focus on a new wave of talented artists. Now, the company produces artists, bands, and personalities who create high-quality, popular music across all genres. “We Just Gotta Like It!”
My Boyz Beatz is an artist, songwriting, production, composition, and development collective founded by Grantley Haynes. It offers a comprehensive pathway for vocalists and musicians to enter the entertainment industry. With countless creative ideas constantly running through his mind, Grantley, alongside his longtime friend and business partner Keith Brown, Chair of The Wheeler Street Young Entertainers in Action, formed the team in the summer of 2004.
Inspired by his son Jason (Jbeatz0121), who encouraged him to reignite his musical passion after a 16-year hiatus, Grantley reformed the team into My Boyz Beatz. GT’s Records, established by Grantley, became the home for My Boyz Beatz as they worked to develop the next generation of musical talent.
Grantley is a well-known figure in the British reggae industry, with a career spanning managing, producing, and touring with some of the biggest names, including Grammy-winning UB40, Steel Pulse, Grammy-nominated Pato Banton, Tippa Irie, and many others. With My Boyz Beatz, Grantley focuses on nurturing young, musically gifted individuals, while also collaborating with seasoned artists, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and creativity.
One of Grantley’s most ambitious projects, Mirrors and Makeup, is a musical designed to empower young artists by providing them with an opportunity to explore acting, singing, and dancing. The project gives individuals who have never participated in performing arts a chance to develop their skills in a supportive environment, building confidence and preparing them for the stage. This production, built around music from My Boyz Beatz, tells the story of a young girl navigating betrayal and discovering her own voice.
